Immigration Resources

Supporting our community as a safe place school district

The Oxnard Union High School District is deeply committed to maintaining our schools as safe spaces for all students and families, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Per State and Federal Law - the District will not solicit or collect information about the citizenship or immigration status of students or their families.  Except as required by Judicial Warrant, the District does not release student information to immigration enforcement and does not allow immigration enforcement on campus.

Our Board Policy 5145.13 and Board Resolution passed on January 29, 2025 reflect our commitment to protecting students' safety, privacy, and access to school.

Supporting Students At Our School Sites

We understand that immigration enforcement in our community can create anxiety and fear for our students. Our Wellness Centers offer safe environments where students can express themselves and talk with a trusted adult. Our Community Schools Program supports families in accessing resources in our community.

How Families can plan ahead

1. Update School Emergency Contacts

Call your school site and ensure multiple trusted adults are listed to pick up your child.

2. Family Preparedness Plan

Learn how to make a Family Preparedness Plan.

Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. Having a plan in place will allow some peace of mind knowing that the family is prepared for immigration emergencies that may arise.

Caregiver Affidavit

A caregiver affidavit is necessary in the event that a parent or guardian is not able to care for their children. This affidavit allows a designated caregiver to make educational and medical decisions on behalf of a child. This form requires only a caregiver’s signature. 3. Know your rights

All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home.
