CIF STATE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL CHAMPS

Pacifica High School took home the CIF State Southern California Regional Championship last Saturday against Birmingham High School. With a score of 51-23, this moves PHS on to the State Championship game this Saturday December 14th at Cerritos College.

PHS filled 3 rooter buses last game full of Tritons to cheer on the football team. For this upcoming game, due to the large amount of sign ups, PHS got 4 rooter buses to pack those bleachers full of Triton Pride! Way to support your fellow Tritons!!

Pacifica High School has the tremendous honor to represent the entire city of Oxnard as we stand UNITED as one. Come out and support not only Pacifica High School but the people, families, coaches and community members that helped get these boys to State!

PERFORMING ARTS

Congratulations to the Triton Marching Band and Color Guard who scored 1st place at the Oxnard Christmas parade.  We swept the division against Oxnard, Hueneme and Rio Mesa High Schools.  Congratulations to drum major Fatima Cabanas who scored 1st place with her mace routine.  Marching Band is looking forward  to continued success competing next week at the Camarillo Christmas parade.

WORLD OF MUSIC

Pacifica High School’s world music students have been with their latest unit– African music! Students learned about the music and culture of the Ewe, BaAka and Shona tribes. As a part of the unit, students got to experience African drumming from the Ewe tribe.  Students learned the technique of patterns like kidi, kaganu, and the auxiliary instruments of the gankoqui and axatse. Thank you to Mark Wingland, a retired music teacher from Pacifica High School, who came out to co-teach this drumming segment with Ms.Rogers.
