HSA Juniors & AOB students received recognition for their volunteer work during the most recent fires. Students made care packages for local fire fighters.
Pacifica Robotics team TRITRON participated last weekend on a three long days competition at Ventura College. The team placed 23rd out of 42, and was two places away to go to the world competition. Thank you tritons for your hard work and dedication. Also thank you Coaches Mr. Ceara and Mr. Sydlaske for your leadership.
On April 2nd, Pacifica was welcoming and helping parents enroll their incoming 9th grade students! Welcome class of 2023!
Some 9th grade Earth/Space Science classes attended the California Science Center which included a tour of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.
On Tuesday, March 26 , 2019, a group of Japanese students and teachers from Nagasaki Kita High School visited Pacifica High School to experience a day in the life of an American student. The day began with a meet and greet at the flag pole and then a campus tour. PHS students from athletics and the dance department volunteered to be buddies. Our visitors shadowed their buddy for the day and were treated to a hip hop class lead by advanced dance students. It was a day of great interaction between students from two very different cultures. PHS student Josh Carranza stated, “I thought Japanese students were so serious, but my buddy would make funny faces to make me laugh.”

COLLEGE AND CAREER
Pacifica High School had a fieldtrip to Oxnard College on Friday, April 5, 2019. One hundred seniors attended this fieldtrip to help students get ready to register for fall 2019 classes. Students had an opportunity to meet with Oxnard College counselors and go over their individual educational plan. In addition they had an orientation in which they had an opportunity to become familiar with the campus and programs offered.
Another great session of “Coffee with the Principal” on Friday March 29th . Principal Lawrence’s featured guests were Josh Brown, who discussed Measure A progress, and Pacifica’s Attendance Adviser, Rogelio Jimenez.
Pacifica Triton Parents never miss any important parent meetings.
On Wednesday, April 3rd parents attended our monthly DELAC/DEPAC Parent Meeting at the District Office with Director Migrant Education-Lupe Reyes-Castillo.
At this meeting parents learned about the importance of completing the district parent survey and got a chance to provide their feedback for future use. Parents also received a copy of the OUHSD Parents Rights & Parent Participation Policy, Parents learned about the current statistics of each school needs and learned Information regarding the 2019 Summer School opportunities where all OUHSD high schools will be open this year for all students of grades 9-12 and for current 10th & 11th grader students can and should be encouraged to apply at CSUCI and so much more! Thank you to our Pacifica Parents, Guidance Technician-Maria Maldonado, Teacher-Ms. Magallanes & Assistant Principal-Ms. Sandoval for attending this important meeting. Our Pacifica Triton Parents are always providing positive feedback on what is working at our schools and where we need to grow to make our school better for our students.
Counselors are continuing with in-house registration for the 2019-2020 school year and will do so through April 12th. While meeting with students, counselors are discussing graduation and A-G requirements, summer school, ROP, and college and career readiness plans
