AVID juniors, along with Mr. Calderon, Mr. Brister, Mrs. Rico, Ms. Guillen and Mrs. Ramos, visited 5 universities in 2 days – Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Fullerton, University of San Diego, CSU San Marcos and UC Irvine. Our students learned a lot and were able to have a once in a lifetime experience.Friendships deepened and grew and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to Mr. Lawrence and the district office for approving the funds for this trip. The students are planning to apply to some of these schools next fall. Being able to get out of Ventura County really opened up their eyes to new opportunities. They were all very thankful.

HSA Juniors visited the Southern California Medical Museum today. Students saw a variety of medical devices used throughout history in the field of medicine.

The King Triton Fishing Club volunteered their time this past weekend to help the Reel Guppy Outdoor Program at their Hueneme Pier kid’s day event.  The students provided assistance with setting up fishing rods and reels, cutting bait and helping the kids who participated in the outing with trying to catch fish.  This was our first time working with this organization and we hope to make it a monthly event.

Students from Mrs. Behniwal’s Peer Resource class helped to coordinate an anti-vape event at lunch on Tuesday, March 26. Students wanted to share with teens the dangers of vaping and the continued harm of using any form of tobacco which includes the use of e-cigs, hookah and traditional cigarettes.

Many Marine Biology Club members were honored by the Channel Islands National Park Service for their volunteer service restoring the environment on Santa Cruz Island. In addition, Matt Carr was recognized for  10 years of service as a volunteer work leader of the  “Scientist in Training Program”

Great Basketball game held here at PHS against Filmore on Wednesday March 27th. The last Unified Basketball game of the year!! Thank you Cristina Magallanes for putting on all these events. This has been such a great experience for our Triton Kids.

On  March 15th, our Symphonic Band students traveled to Santa Susana High School participating in the Southern California Band and Orchestra Associations annual festival.  In main adjudication, Symphonic Band scored an Excellent or B rating!  Congratulations!

On Friday March 22nd,  the Oxnard Union High School District hosted its annual Bands Showcase.  Many of the sister schools, including Pacifica’s Symphonic Band, performed mini concerts for each other.  At the end of the evening, all three hundred and fifty instrumental students combined together  to perform A Salute to Freedom including, America the Beautiful, Your A Grand Ole Flag and My Country Tis of Thee.

Pacifica Assistant Principal Ms. Angelita Sandoval led our Teachers, Parents, Staff and Students, in our 2nd LCAP Meeting held tat the district office, where everyone had a chance to provide input and help formulate the school site goals .  At this meeting we learned about the Youth Truth Parent Survey where our district has over 34 thousand parents and our district received 2229 on-line responses from parents and 568 on-line responses from Pacifica parents.  We all collaborated in finding ways to get more parents to complete the parents survey and be more involved per school site, and shared what is working best in parent participation, so that we as a district can learn from each other and try something new. Pacifica Tritons ROCK!!!
