Weekly Update 3/8/19


Unified Club and TECA teamed up to host to an event for National End the R-word Day on 3/6/19. During 4th period, classes attending were presented with a short video on why the wordretard should not be used and how it may affect a person with intellectual disabilities and their friends and loved ones. After our Unified basketball teams played an intersquad game and put their skills on display for the crowd! Students and staff were invited to sign the posters to take the pledge to use more respectful and appropriate language. Unified Club members handed out stickers and bracelets after the presentation and during lunch.



On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Advanced Dance Class hosted a dance workshop for local elementary and middle school students. Our very own talented PHS dancers had an  opportunity to teach their original choreography to our future Tritons.    It was a fun day despite the rain and many made some new friends.  A special thank you to  AP Mr. Randy Garcia for supporting the event.



Pacifica will be holding the 4th annual “Caile to the Baile” event on Friday, March 15 in the PHS gym from 7-11pm. This year’s dance features 3 live Spanish bands. 

Tickets for the dance go on sale Tuesday, March 12. PHS Student tickets are $12 and Guests $15. This year Pacifica ASB will be co-hosting with Oxnard HS ASB who are also selling tickets to their students for this event. We are planning for around 1,000 students and guests to attend the dance


Counselors visited English classes to provide teachers and students with information on in-house registration for the 2019-2020 school year. Students were given their course menus and a copy of their transcript. Counselors informed students that the elective fair will be taking place March 12th and 13th and individual counselor conferences will begin the week of March 25th.

CSUCI met with over 30 seniors that were admitted to the university in the fall of 2019.


EAOP partnered with CSUCI to provide our last Financial Aid workshop night to seniors needing assistance it completing the FAFSA before the March 2nd deadline. We had over 35 families attend and submit their FAFSA and Dream Act forms. Big shout our to Cal State Channel Islands and their financial aid team, they were amazing and very helpful.



On Saturday, March 2nd, CSUCI hosted a Family Conference known as COLLEGE “Making it Happen”. Although it rained all day, there were 50 Pacifica Triton Parents & Students that were present to learn about how get prepared for College, Learn about Financial Aid, Career Guidance & Take a tour of the college campus. Our parents stated that the workshops were all awesome! They walked away feeling more ready and excited to start their journey as a college bound student. Even the parents learned information on NEW state requirements for Math that would allow adults to return back to college and earn that desired degree!
