Our World Music students began their studies in Africa by learning to drum like the Ewe tribe of Ghana and Togo. All students had the opportunity to experience the complexity of drumming learning particular rhythmic patterns on various Ewe instruments. Such instruments included the kidi, kaganu, gankogui and axatse. A huge thank you to music teacher and retiree, Mark Wingland, for co-teaching this segment. Thanks to Cora Branchflower, Pacifica’s guitar teacher, for providing additional instruments for the World Music students to use!
Pacifica Science Club volunteered at the CSUCI Science Carnival on Saturday, November 3. We had a great time demonstrating and explaining the “Physics of Carnival Games” to interested children and adults!
