STAFF NEWS

Pacifica High School hosted this years annual Oxnard Union High School District Back to School Kick Off, where over  1,000 OUHSD teachers and staff members attended. This Kick Off meeting was a chance to collaborate with other teachers and staff members from the different school sites to catch up and talk about exciting things for the upcoming school year. We heard some great speeches to motivate and inform all staff members.  Some of those speakers includes, or President of the Board Of  Trustees,  our Superintendents, our Union President and many more. We also had the privilege to have a great motivational speaker, John Krownapple, who really drove the point of equity for our students and the importance of education.

Later that day, PHS had an amazing opportunity to have the Chief of Police talk to our staff about safety. He reassured everyone by letting them know that he is working very closely with Mr. Lawrence and the Admin team to help protect and serve everyone at PHS.  We also had our own SRO officer, Officer Hector Balderrama, talk to the staff to give some tips to ensure we have a smooth and safe school year.

First Day Of School

First day of the 2018-2019 school year was a great SUCCESS. We had around 3,150 students who attended day one. By 8:20am the quad was empty with all students in class learning and achieving greatness.  Mr. Lawrence went to different classrooms around campus to welcome students back and to listen in on the great things happening in our classrooms.  #ExpectExcellence #WinTheDay #TheTideIsRising

Principal’s Message To His Staff on First Day of School:

Today, every single Triton was AMAZING!!! All students, certificated staff, and classified staff united as one powerful force to help us #wintheday and it is clear that you all #expectexcellence. Your energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork were truly admirable. We had an EMPTY QUAD during Period 1 this morning. Due to the hard work of all Tritons, our first day was a huge success. Students were well-behaved, polite, and respectful, and our amazing staff was stellar!!!

I appreciate the opportunity to serve as your Principal and there is no place I would rather be. PHS is a special place and I cherish the opportunity I have to work with all of you.

Master Schedule

The Triton master schedule team, our amazing counseling staff, and Assistant Principal Cameron Salehi have mastered the Master Schedule!  AP Salehi and the Triton counseling team worked diligently over the summer to ensure 99%  of our students had a full schedule before going live the week before the first day of school.  Doing so ensured a smooth first day with kids in their correct classrooms and out of the counseling office, allowing teachers to properly set the tone and build student relationships starting on day one!  As of Friday afternoon, September 7th, Pacifica High School met its goal of having every teacher under their 175 daily contractual limit a week early!  GO TRITONS!!
