Performing Arts:

At the end of May, our Jazz Ensemble I and Symphonic Band students hosted their annual end-of-the-year concerts. The evenings featured tributes to all twenty-six graduating seniors! On Saturday, June 3, our Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble I students participated in the Rio School District Music festival. The afternoon featured a concert by our Jazz Ensemble followed by a “mass band” performance by Pacifica’s Symphonic Band and all band students (sixth through eighth grades) from the Rio School District. This performance featured nearly two hundred and fifty students all playing

together!   A huge thank you to Dr. Puglisi, Superintendent of the Rio School District, and Doug Williamson, for inviting us to this event once again!

Lastly, Pacifica’s instrumental students traveled to UCSB as concert goers hearing performances by UCSB’s Wind and Jazz ensembles.  Thanks to Liz Villanueva and Mr. Lawrence for arranging transportation!

Our World Music students have the last two months traveling to various locations throughout the world learning about Indian, Indonesian, Mexican, Latin and South America music! The students also completed a five week project on poverty in India learning the causes to poverty and trying to attain solutions to this very solvable problem!
